If you are looking for free and up-to-date information about Azure Architecture tips and practices, Microsoft has a site dedicated to this matter.
It includes very much information about Azure environment, available resources and tools, but it is not limited to that. It also has very good best practices, guidelines and patterns that are cloud provider agnostic. Also, it has some reference architectures and showcases.
So, there is not excuse to add new skills to you toolbox.
The approach I used to take is:
- Read the comprehensive content: In this case, I would read the sections in the web site either picking those that are more important based on my interests or needs, or just read all thorough it section by section.
- Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty: It is quite important to do the work. They way to truly get learn is by doing (at least, that is my opinion). So, to some extend, do the work you just learnt. It not only help you to solidify the knowledge in your head, but also it helps to gain some experience in the topic your are studying.
- Tech others: I am new in this particular field. What I have just learnt is that you can have workshops in your company (it doesn’t have to be a 100 attendants workshop) or even just writing a blog post. By the way, writing a blog post, also works as a reference for you going forward.
In summary, it is all to have a proactive learning process.
