Me

I am Vicluar Daniel Merchan. I am a Systems Engineer graduated from a Venezuelan university. I have been working in the Software Industry for more than 19 years having different roles: from Software Engineer, Software Engineering Manager and Software Architect.

My passion is about Software Best Practices, Software Architecture and recently in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning. I like moving between the different layers of abstraction: from business strategy, needs and goals to very technical details of specific solutions.

On my free time, I love to spend time with my family and my fantastic son. I like going out, watching movies, tv series and driving my car.

Currently, I am working at AWS as Solutions Architect, where I have the opportunity to engage with customers to help them realize the benefits of the cloud and implement Well-Architected solutions align with their business strategies and goals.

A guiding principle that I strive for in my software projects is:

“I don’t think that a construction engineer would make decisions without facts and data hoping to get a good result. Nonetheless, I unfortunately have seen that in the software industry quite often. That “hack and hope” approach is something software engineers should avoid at all cost”
